Curiculum Vitae

OBJECTIVES
To teach photography, visual culture and art by setting a personal example as highly knowledgeable and competent teacher and artist to encourage students to pursue self-expression, to understand their place in our culture in order for them to achieve greater personal, social and cultural achievements.

QUALIFICATIONS

I am familiar with and continue to learn more about historical and contemporary philosophical approaches to art, art history, art philosophy, criticism and art education. My personal interests are in community-based approaches to art education, emphasizing the importance of art in our lives and as a vehicle for connecting our experiences to others.

I am experienced in various types of photographic media, my work uses historical processes as well as contemporary digital technology. The historical processes I use involve pinhole cameras, Van Dyke, Cyanotype, Gum-dichromate printing, to the more traditional processes such as albumen prints and C – type color printing. In my professional and commercial work I also extensively use digital imaging, utilizing software and hardware on both Mac and PC platforms. More recently I become interested in the ways the internet allows images to become an interpersonal mode of communicating experiences and desires, and allows the traditional photograph to become an interactive, inter-personal, per-mutating media. The applications I am most proficient with are Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, InDesign, Flash, iMovie, Final Cut Pro and Micromedia Dreamwever.

In addition to photography I like to use, and teach the use of, various other media such as drawing, printing, and painting to create multidimensional interactive installations. Further I have extensive practical woodworking experience in both construction and design. I am also very proficient with metal and wood shop tools ranging from saws and drills to joiners and planers,
electric arc welders and gas torches.
